Women and families...
Believing in women’s entrepreneurship and building social connections
At Ti Rayons Soleil, we stand alongside women who face insecurity, violence, and exclusion. Often the only breadwinners in their families, these women raise their children while shouldering all the burdens of daily life. In a society where social connections are broken, it is easy to fall into traps that keep them stuck in a cycle of hardship…
We firmly believe that every woman deserves equal opportunities in employment, enabling her to build a better future. To make this a reality, we support women through various empowerment projects designed to equip them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Women Of Value
Women Of Value (WOV) in 2014, was an empowerment program designed for women living below the poverty line, who were determined to take control of their futures.
Co-financed by the European Union’s Decentralised Cooperation Programme in Mauritius and Ti Rayons Soleil, WOV’s mission was to provide professional (MQA Approved) and practical training to women facing significant challenges. The program was guided by trainers, social workers, and psychologists, who supported participants in discovering pathways to change and improving their daily lives. The six months of training and personalized follow-up offered tools to break free from the vicious cycle of poverty that keeps many women trapped in exclusion.
The program offers:
• Psychological and medical support
• Talk sessions
• Literacy improvement workshops
• Professional training
• One-on-one personalized follow-up
• Skills assessment and goal setting
• Tailored job search assistance
Imagining a life where exclusion, poverty, and all forms of deprivation no longer hold power is a monumental challenge. But it is a challenge worth embracing, and we invite you to help these women rise above it. Are you a woman looking to change your life? This program could be your first step.

Pom d’amour ti pima
We founded this social enterprise in 2016 with 20 women who had just completed the Women Of Value (WOV) program. At the end of the program, these 20 women did not want to leave and asked for our support to create the first social enterprise of our NGO.
The company began delivering delicious lunches to businesses in Vacoas and Ebene on weekdays, and it quickly became a success with our clients. The women took charge of the business, and over time, they grew stronger and more confident in their entrepreneurial skills.
Unfortunately, the various lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to the initiative, but the energy and potential of the project remain alive. With the right support, it is ready to rise from the ashes, as the drive and passion behind it were truly inspiring.
Fam’Activ 2024-2026
Building on the success of the ANBA project, Fam'Activ was created to empower young women and mothers who want to equip themselves to thrive in today’s job market. With the support of Kanope Consulting, around 20 women and mothers have gained the skills and confidence to navigate the challenges of securing employment and succeeding in the recruitment process. Specializing in human resources, Kanope Consulting has provided them with the tools they need to tackle the new demands of finding stable and meaningful work. Operating across two regions, this project has been a resounding success.
Revey Twa Fam (Eco Sud)
This initiative, led by the NGO Eco Sud, has provided invaluable support to the mothers of Les Ti Serins Preschool in Mahebourg. The Revey Twa Fam project has been highly successful, as it helps women build self-confidence and improve their self-image through training, workshops, and various encounters. Jasmine and her team specifically focused on empowering women from the local communities in Mahebourg, offering them the tools to transform their lives and gain a greater sense of agency.
DesignHer (Ripple Association)
In collaboration with Ripple Association, the DesignHer program offered a group of mothers from our preschool and afterschool program in Vacoas a series of free training sessions designed to support women from vulnerable backgrounds on their path to entrepreneurship. The sessions focused on key areas such as:
• Starting a business: real challenges and practical solutions
• Identifying and overcoming self-limiting beliefs like “I don’t have enough time” or “I’m not good enough”
• Building self-confidence and learning to stand tall in their own worth
This initiative gave the women space to reflect on their strengths, rediscover their potential, and, most importantly, find the courage to believe in themselves and take the first steps toward launching their own ventures.
Food autonomy
With the support of Eco Sud and RESPECT, a group of young mothers took part in a transformative training program in greenhouse cultivation and the fundamentals of sustainable farming.
Over several months, these women learned not only how to grow their own vegetables, but how to reclaim agency over what ends up on their family’s plates. For many, it was more than just a practical skill — it was a step toward self-reliance, resilience, and renewed confidence. Some even began selling their produce, turning homegrown harvests into a source of income. Across the different regions where we work, this spirit continues to grow. Through small but meaningful initiatives, women are reconnecting with the land, learning how to provide for their families in ways that are both nourishing and empowering. Our guiding belief is simple, yet powerful: “Grow what you eat, and eat what you grow.”
Supporting families in times of crisis
Mauritius faces frequent natural disasters — from violent cyclones to heavy floods. For many of the vulnerable families we work with, who often live in makeshift or unstable housing, everything they own can be lost in a matter of hours: food, clothing, beds, and the little comfort they had. In these critical moments, we are deeply grateful for the solidarity of our long-standing partners — Livina Foundation, I61 Foundation, AfrAsia Foundation, and Dayforce Mauritius — who help us respond quickly by providing urgent supplies: mattresses, food, and essential items.
Through our food and clothing banks, we are also able to support families facing deeply fragile situations — a parent in prison, chronic illness, or extreme poverty that threatens the stability of the entire household. You can help us bring relief, dignity, and a sense of hope to these families by donating in-kind.
A small gesture from you can mean the world to someone in need.

Parent Empowerment Support Programme (PESP)
The Parent Empowerment Support Programme (PESP) was introduced at AfrAsia School and other locations, as we strongly believe that the well-being of the entire family plays a crucial role in their progress. By supporting parents, we are not just empowering individuals, but uplifting families as a whole.
Through this programme, we have launched several initiatives aimed at improving family life. One of the key components is the “Parent Sharing Circle”, where parents have the opportunity to discuss their daily struggles in a supportive environment, helping them feel more connected and less isolated.
Additionally, we offer personalized social follow-ups, ensuring families have the support they need to set and achieve goals, ultimately working towards bettering their living conditions. Our team is here to guide them every step of the way.
Social workers are vital in this process, acting as a key support system to help families stay on track and access the necessary resources to move forward.
Parenting workshop
We regularly organize workshops designed to support and empower parents, with the aim of:
• Strengthening parental skills and confidence
• Enhancing parent-child relationships
• Helping parents manage their children’s emotions
• Establishing healthy and effective boundaries
• Creating safe spaces for open conversations and mutual support
• Raising awareness on sensitive issues, including sexual violence
These workshops offer a supportive environment where parents can learn, share, and grow together, helping them navigate the challenges of raising children in today’s world.
Kadi Partaze (FoodWise)
Kadi Partaze, an initiative by the NGO Foodwise, enables organizations to collect non-perishable food items at the end of each month over a three-day period, across various supermarkets. Our team, alongside our beneficiaries (both parents and children), is stationed at the entrance of participating supermarkets, where we invite shoppers to contribute donations. This initiative helps us support vulnerable families by collecting essential food items and other necessary products.
Circular Economy
In our efforts to empower families and promote self-sufficiency, we launched a circular economy project for a group of young women in the western part of the island. The goal of the project is to optimize resource use and minimize waste. Collaborating closely with CDL Knits and QAIR, who have been essential partners, has been key to the success of this initiative.
